PerkinElmer

Developing 3D Live Cell Imaging Techologies

PerkinElmer is collaborating with the Whiteheade/MIT BioImaging Center to develop their UltraviewRS confocal microscope. In imaging, the key to understanding dynamic changes at the cellular level requires a balance between throughput and content. The PE system enables rapid multidimensional mapping of biological events in vivo. One major aim of the collaboration is to further increase the rate at which multidimensional image data can be collected. This capability will enable scientists to measure dynamic events in 3D space and at sub-second resolution. Faculty collaborating in the technology development include Paul Matsudaira, Doug Lauffenburger, and Klavs Jensen.
